Wedding Ceremony Speeches: Let My Words Tell Your Story

How I Became a Wedding Celebrant

Whenever someone asks me how I became a wedding celebrant, I think of the opening credits of Forrest Gump. The camera follows a feather as it drifts gently on the breeze.

The feather represents the lightness I bring to wedding ceremony speeches and the beauty of the encounters that shape our lives. If that feather has landed before your eyes today, it is no coincidence. If you are reading this page, you are looking for a ceremony that reflects who you are and a celebrant who shares your values. I’m Muriel, better known by my pen name, Emma Blue. I’m a writer and a trilingual wedding celebrant, working in French, English and German across the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of southern France.

My First Adventures in London

My love of writing goes hand in hand with my taste for foreign languages. My special bond with my German grandmother sparked my passion for languages and my desire to learn more. After studying English and German, I moved to London, where I stayed for over four years. I supported senior executives on their daily work. I learned to adapt to every situation and relished assignments that took me to Málaga, Geneva and Paris. I felt as though I had wings (especially when travelling first class!). I loved working in this international environment and responding to last-minute requests, always aware of the importance of the mysterious documents entrusted to me.

When I returned to France, my London experience and fluency in English opened the doors to a bank on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris.

My First Love Stories

Eventually, I settled along the magical shores of the French Riviera. Writing became an increasingly important part of my life, and my desire to share my love of language and literature led me to become a primary school teacher. I taught my pupils to hold their pens and let their imaginations wander.

What a joy it was to see children's eyes light up as I read them stories! I learned to modulate my voice, vary the pace of my reading and bring stories to life through facial expressions. Mission accomplished: my first audience was captivated!

My First Publications, long before Wedding Speeches

Writing gradually took centre stage in my life. I won poetry competitions organised by the city of Nice, received an award in a short-story competition in 2020 for Les gants blancs (The White Gloves), and won a literary prize in Antibes in 2023 for my first novel, J’irai souffler sur tes cendres. I explored all kinds of writing. Robin des glaces, a short story for young readers published by Short Édition, has been distributed in more than 40,000 copies across France!

The adventure continued when I co-wrote Laura Jourdan’s novel recounting her journey to the North Pole. Aventurière des pôles was published by Istya & Compagnie in October 2023. This wonderful collaboration deepened my love of telling your stories and writing about your adventures and love stories.

How I Began Writing Ceremony Speeches

In 2023, my feather landed at the feet of a funeral director in Mougins, who made me an unexpected offer: “How would you feel about writing funeral ceremony speeches to pay tribute to those who have passed away?”

A few days later, I found myself alongside a grieving family. That was when I truly understood the power of words: they can comfort, soothe, and even bring smiles through the tears.

After around fifty ceremonies and just as many families finding comfort, I am now here for you, ready to help you celebrate the most beautiful day of your life: your wedding.

Because words can make these moments last forever, and a symbolic wedding ceremony can leave a lasting impression on everyone present. My greatest love story? Yours.
